  • Bruno is eight years old. His parents divorced when he was five. During the week he spends the time with his mother - Guada Lupe, and on the weekends with his father - Fernando and brother Liam, who is 14-years-old. On Saturdays, he attends a school with non-disabled children. His parents’ effort is to equip Bruno with a set of self-sustaining skills to foster in him a sense of self-worth and independence.

  • Before having his regular sweet bread with milk for breakfast, Bruno is helped by his father Fernando to dress up for school. “He needs constant supervision; there is no moment that I can leave him by himself. It is at times quite stressful,” says his father.

  • How will Bruno’s life unfold and where will life take him is a question that never left me. He may look as a child like any other now, only that his world will change, will become more complex as the years go by. Will he have the opportunity to go on a date like all teenagers dream of? Will he have a family of his own?
